A Hat Trick In Binhai
It was a triple joy for Korea’s Seo Hee Kyung after lifting the winner’s trophy in the USD 300,000 Binhai Open. Her three-day total of 9-under 207 gave her the winner’s title, giving her her third consecutive title. Seo had recently won the High 1 Charity and KB Star tournaments over two weekends in the Korean LPGA Tour.
“I’m certainly very happy and I want to keep on winning to position myself in the top three of the KLPGA Tour’s Order of Merit,” said a delighted Seo after the tournament.

Rattanapan Wins TALGA Founder President’s Cup
Held at Green Valley Country on 24 July this year, the Thailand Ladies Golf Association (TALGA) Founder President’s Cup saw top lady golfers battle each other over an 18-hole stroke play. Benja Rattanapan blazed through the course to emerge winner with at net score of 67.
Based on the results of this match, Rattanapan and two other players with the highest gross scores – Walaiphan Utama and Chuyuda Singhasuwan – will be the TALGA’s representative at the Malaysian Ladies Amateur Open from 20 to 22 August.

Women’s Champions Is LPGA’s Top 5
Top marks were given to the inaugural HSBC Women’s Champions tournament held at Tanah Merah Country Club recently. Players and LPGA Tour committee members all agreed that the event was “easily and instantly one of the top five LPGA events worldwide”. Players were delighted with the organisation, hospitality and tough course that even withstood torrential downpours.

Ochoa Makes History
Despite torrential downpours, world no. 1 lady golfer Lorena Ochoa continued her good form in her first game of the season to make history. Not only did she clinch the top spot in the HSBC Women’s Champions, her 11-stroke triumph meant that she had the joint second-largest every margin of victory on the LPGA Tour.

Ochoa First Champion of Champions
Scoring her fourth below-70 round and leading by 11 strokes, Lorena Ochoa finally lifted the champion’s trophy 8 hours into the final day of play after showers forced play to stop thrice. The 26-year-old said, “I wanted to win more than eight [so] I’m very happy. It’s been a great week.” Swedish favourite Annika Sorenstam finished second while American Puala Creamer took third spot.
