Singapore Golf Association and Singapore Ladies Golf Association announce the start of a new relationship between the two golfing associations.
Historically, SLGA has always looked after the interest of women’s social golf as well as to develop elite women’s golf in Singapore. In recent years, both SGA and SLGA have worked successfully together on joint training programmes and tournaments with the aim of having one National Sports Association represent the interests of all golfers.
In moving forward, SLGA recognises that under such circumstances, it is only prudent for it to be part of SGA and has accepted the invitation of SGA to be its Affiliate Member. SGA will select national women representatives for international golfing activities. SLGA will continue to promote golfing and social activities for its members.
SLGA will work through SGA on the development of women’s elite golf by being represented on the SGA Executive Board and the various SGA Sub-Committees. SGA will amend its Constitution to reflect this and President SLGA, Mrs Lam Lian Suan, and Vice-President, Ms Marvane E, will be appointed members of the SGA Executive Board.
SGA and SLGA are confident that this new arrangement will augur well for the development of the sports of golf in Singapore.
